The Creative Process - Marilyn Kelly

I am currently felting bowls, my intention is to move on to painting with wool. I also crochet. It’s something to keep my hands busy and get lost in the rhythm of working with the wool and fibre as it starts to form into something I am happy with. The creative process always starts with the mood I am in - sometimes the ideas are flowing and other times it takes a bit of nurturing, there are some wonderful fibre artists out there to draw inspiration from. There are days when I am really inspired to do something on a more challenging scale, such as attempting to put a scene on a bowl. Other times I just love to watch the colours of the wool come together as I’m felting, especially as I start to layer the colours on. The colours and texture are what I am most in love with. Some people want their felted piece to be completely neat with no loose fibres showing. I actually like the fibres to be wispy, it looks more natural and organic to me. Let's see where my journey takes me - will I finally get a felt painting done?
